Hmmm I guess they’re all individual just like us, so that makes sense. I’m not sure how to limit it just for her, and I’d hate to stop giving that stuff altogether! :(
We give the cut off's from strawberries, and some blueberries here and there, watermelon ends the odd time this summer. Lettuce and other veg cut offs. Every few days I would say. If it was all of them I'd think maybe it was something we were feeding but it's literally just her.
Hi all,
I need advice! My sweet Guacamole (rumpless araucana) keeps getting a very poopy bum. The poop gets stuck in her butt feathers and dries to a stinky mess. I have been trimming the feathers around her vent and all around her rear, but I'm still having to clean her bottom every few days...

Hey guys, another question.... this same girl is now laying daily, and although the eggs are gradually getting bigger, they’re still quite tiny compared to a regular “large” egg (see pics). Is this normal? She started laying early at 4 mths so maybe she’s still just getting going? She’s just...
I observed for a while this morning and noticed my other gal picking at the foam insulation at underside of nest boxes - tap, tap, squeak noises. I’m wondering if that was driving her crazy as well..... she tends to like her privacy.... we will cover that area with wood to prevent further...
Hi all,
Funny question - we have only one hen laying so far (5 others soon to follow I hope!) We have a coop with a small attached covered run, plus a larger grassy run with 6’ fence they have access to all day. We let them out to free range later in the day when we can watch them (previous fox...
Thank you! I’m so relieved... we can’t keep roos here and she’s such a sweetie. So they turn more red when they’re getting ready to lay? Is that what you mean?
