    Thanks! We're keeping them sequestered in their own section of the coop until they're laying so we can keep them on duck feed. The gal at the farm store basically spoke of the layer feed we're already using for the chickens as a sort of all purpose feed. She's always had her ducks on it once...

    Thanks, Kevin! So, the other part of the question, I guess, is does the amount of daylight make a difference? In other words, if they hit six months of age sometime in December or January, will they start laying then, or not until Spring?

    Picked up two Indian Runners this summer, they're currently about 8 weeks. I'm told that they start laying at around 15 weeks, which would put them at somewhere from mid to late October. I'm wondering if this is late enough in the season that they might hold off until Spring to start laying...

    We've had six chickens for a couple of years now, just added two Indian Runner ducks. The folks at the farm store we bought them from told us that once they were laying, we'd be able to put them on the same layer feed as the hens. Any thoughts on this? We have them on duck chow at the moment...
