One of my bantys
Not sure who mom was, I have 7 hens and I don't know who laid the egg. I hope that he can learn to get along with his Dad.....He sure is handsome.
Here are the photos of our first chick. She (He?) was hatched Early June. She has always been in the flock, was never separated, and free ranged day 2. She is pretty cool, has a great personality, and we really will be upset if she is a he. So, the pics show her the day she hatched, her Dad, and...
The wheels are off of a kids mini electric jeep. The levers were cut from an old lawnmower handle. Basically, the wheels are off center of the lever pivot bolt, so when the handle is raised the wheels are lowered. Make sense?
2 of the birds are laying, and the pullet is about 4 months?
Weather is mild here,no excessive heat or cold. Baybe 40-80 average year round. Rain will happen in the winter and spring, some heavy, but roof should be water tight.
By pulling the lever with each wheel the tractor raises and the wheels are in position to roll
No, handle is around 42"
Maybe. It is about 4 feet, not counting the nest box that hangs off on the outside. I read 8-10" of perch per bird to roost, but when I look in they are all snuggled at one...
This is version 1.1 of my tractor. It is 7 x 4. I made some changes today, mainly adding an eggbox off the back and lowering the roost bar upstairs. It is a bit heavy, but I am able to easily move it around the yard. I used old repurposed redwood, except for the siding on top which I bought. Most...
The egg issue seems to be resolved. Three eggs unbroken now so I have my fingers crossed.
Thanks! We have been living it for about 18 months. We were in the mountains in New Mexico, northern Arizona, and now here near Monterey Bay California. It was a lot of work but so worth it! :thumbsup
My thinking was to use a store bought egg to determine if the eggs were being broken or maybe the shells were too thin or breaking during laying? Anyways, I put some golf balls in the nest and this evening before I tucked them in I found a good whole egg! Tomorrow I will change the design up a...
Greetings from Foggy California. I have 3 birds that are new to me, 2 laying hens and 1 pullet. They are Speckled Sussex.I bought them last Sunday. I put them into an a frame chicken tractor that I just built. First time chicken owner and I am super excited to have them.
So, chickens went into...
Thanks for the warm welcomes.
