    Help needed for Polish please

If I can find more they will not be let out alone unless I am out with them. I have never had an issue with air attacks on my standards so they are allowed to free range. I feel bad for my lone Polish. I fear he will become unsocialized because he has to be isolated for his safety in a chicken...

    East RIver - South Dakota

Roughly 17 miles South of Brookings. My concern would be the extra roo. I assume Polish roos are similar to standard roos. Totally understand not wanting to keep one lone roo.

They are so cute! I am currently heartbroken as is my 12 yr old daughter. We have (had) 3 White Crested Black Polish. We got them this Spring by special request from a feed store. We had to buy straight run. We ended up with 2 hens and a roo. They were 12 weeks old this week. I lost both girls...

    Anti-social rooster

I recently adopted a Silkie Roo. He came from a farm with 100+ birds. I went to get a standard size Roo from the same farm and she said I could have the Silkie for free. She felt bad for him as it seemed none of the girls liked him. I have some Polish in the brooder now that would be coop ready...

Any issues having ducks and chickens live together?

Thanks Duck Drover I appreciate the info. There are a lot of predatory animals that roam the country side so I do fear for their night safety. I guess I will play it by ear when the time comes. Thanks again for replying!

fuzzy8- I would recommend getting 2 chickens so the one isn't lonely.

Any issues having ducks and chickens live together?

What age can the ducks go to the coop? I have read a lot of variations. Currently my coop is still "winterized" so it is protected from wind and I have a heat lamp set up on a thermocube so if the temp would happen to drop below 35 degrees Fahrenheit it will kick the lamp on. I don't for see the...

Any issues having ducks and chickens live together?

I hadn't considered that Duck Dover, thanks for the info. Since the ducks were sold straight run it will be awhile before I know their sex. First time duck mom mistake :) .

Any issues having ducks and chickens live together?

Best advice /tips on raising duckling and chicks together in a brooder? I got the 4 of them a week ago. Yes the ducks are messy but I only have 1 heat lamp. So for now they are in a large tote. Will raising up the water help keep it cleaner. Not to high so the chicks can't reach of course. Any...

Broody hen left nest 1 day to soon

Update: My "Broody Judy" was sitting on an unfertilized egg this whole time! Poor girl. I am currently trying to break her of her broodiness. Next, time she decides to be broody I will make sure she has more than 1 egg for sure to increase out chances of a hatch. Beginners mistake on my part...
