I mean you definitely can a few ways, we have like a forest area next to our regular run it’s so they can forage during the day, I fenced it in with cattle panels and 1/4 inch hardware cloth and did a tree weave as the roof. the areas on a hill so wasn’t a good fit for hardware cloth and 2x4s...
Yes your coop/run is way too small, always over build I built mine myself got everything but the wood for it off an auction site saved a ton of money that way, I also find most chicken coop designs aren’t that great I worked off plans for a shed that I modified was much better space and cleaning...
was able to get her into a vet today they said it’s a extreme wound he’s only seen something like that with dog biting hens. but she’s aleart, eating and he’s optimistic that she’ll be okay in the long run he gave me a bunch of meds And said it’ll probably be about 4 weeks of healing
No odor and she’s eating, put her on high protein, and she’s even a bit feisty today hopefully a good sign! I have blue coat, vetericyn spray and Neosporin but that’s pretty much it.
I know that stuff, thanks for the recommendation I’ll pick that up incase
earliest appointment I can get into a...
Thank you no they have no roosters and no one saw or noticed she was in this condition which is concerning to me so I will move the other ones as soon as I’m able as well Just for safety, tho this hen is blind in one eye might be how someone got the better of her
I need help with a wound on my hen, we lost our home in the fire and when we evacuated I took them too a farm they go moved to another farm about two weeks after we evacuated was the first time I could get to see them one of my hens was clearly beat up but nothing to severe I checked her over...

Hey is anyone looking for a rooster I have a 7 month old olive egger rooster he’s a Welsummer and Ameraucana mix pretty very well tempered for a rooster and rather quite he’s also been vaccinated against mareks.we were hoping to keep him but my flock has largely rejected him probably due to a...
hens will sometimes leave the nest to eat drink but if there gone too long it’s a risk to the eggs if your trying to hatch out I wouldn’t give fertile eggs to that hen, I’d do a lock out (block off the hen from the nesting boxes) if you have a large dog crate isolation for a day or two also...
Last call some of the chicks hatched late vaccinating tomorrow if anyone wants the left over mareks vaccine (it has to be used within hours of mixing so keep that in mind) ill be near topanga if anyone is in the area and has chicks that you want to vaccinate
I thought about that, but it’s nitrogen sealed so if I attempted this and stored the unincorporated parts back in the fridge for later hatches I’d risk contamination or it becoming useless. even in a still air chamber I can’t guarantee it will remain viable. so I’d rather just give it to someone...
Hi my hens hatching out a batch of chicks for a friend of mine this week, i bought mareks vaccine thinking i could save the rest for later hatches but its a two part vaccine and it’s 1000 dose which is an insane amount but anyway. If your hatching out chicks this week or know someone who is, I...
