I have a hen that around this time last year presented with a swollen abdomen, waddling gait. Was being bullied by other hens in our small (8 hen) flock. We isolated her from the bullies, tried to draw fluid off her - got a small amount of cloudy opaque yellow fluid (think uncooked scrambled...
First time with Cochins. I was hoping for pullets. Out of a batch of 7 chicks, 2 Wyandottes are definitely cockerels. This morning, I caught one of my lavender cochins crowing too. Trouble is I have two, and they look very similar, so I'd like those more knowledgeable to weigh in and...
I think the biggest thing I learned from reading a few threads here about integrating new chickens into the flock was to give them places where they can have a break in the line of sight and or hide/have shelter from more aggressive birds. Having a better understanding of chicken mentality...

Thanks everyone. I realize it does to some degree depend on the breed. Of course I still need to hang the thing and hope to "do it once, do it right" so as to not make more holes than necessary.
The waterer I'm building is a one sided (L-shaped) version of this one: Chicken Waterer by...
