HELP with ventilation please, frostbite on comb

I’m in a much colder climate than you (0 F last night and tonight) and my chickens have been spared frostbite so far. This may be due to the breeds I have. I’ve left my coop unheated on nights that go down to ten, which is more typical here in winter. When it dips below that, I have an electric...

New BC Cream Legbar Chicken Owner

I can understand how you’d be disappointed if you were expecting powered blue and got something different. My cream legbar just started laying, and her eggs are blue green. I didn’t know to expect powder blue so I think they’re lovely.

    Lead-Free chicken wire alternative?

Yes apparently it can. I went with galvanized steel hardware cloth. Stainless steel would have cost three times as much. I hope I’m not making a mistake. Trying to find the balance between healthy and alarmism. Don’t know if I made the right choice.

So glad to have found this!

He is 11. Yes we live in metro Detroit so we still get significant snow. We have opossums, skunks, foxes, and raccoons and there have been a couple coyote sightings even though we live jn a suburban environment. Also falcons and hawks. However for better or worse we see a lot fewer of those now...
