I can only say what the vet told me. Only my three heavy hens have it on both feet in the same spot. My two americaunas are fine. They are not limping, still eating normal. Their feces is fine, the vet sent it out for fecal analysis which was negative for parasites. Basically I have to soak...
Hi we haven't had a reaction as I stopped the eggs after he administered the antibiotic. The second vet that I used did not want to damage the new skin underneath the scabs. So far the soak and the navasal is working the scabs are getting smaller.
I'm mad at myself for using the first vet...
Navasal is a fungus gel. for one week the vet had me soak their feet for 15 minutes in blue stuff which is an antimicrobial antifungal soak. Then apply Navasal to their scabs. After the week we soak once a week and apply. My question was has anyone used baytril with their hens and after time...
Sorry, I didn't explain better. My hens have a form of bumblefoot, which resulted from a roosting problem. Their perches are more than 18 inches from the floor. 3 of my hens are heavy, so jumping down resulted in bumblefoot. I searched for a vet, when the first vet came he administered...
Hello all, I saw the black scabs on three of my hens, so immediately I looked for a vet. I wanted a vet to come to the my house, the vet that came to make a long story short, gave my hens a shot of the antibiotic Baytril, 5 mg per pound under their wing in the skin on June 10. I wasn't seeing...
Hi there, she is the lead chicken so no one pecked her. There are no bubbles, sneezing or noisy breathing. We were just actually at the vet for bumble foot this past Monday, and he said she was healthy.
UPDATE:
I took my three girls to the chicken Vet. He didn't recommend cutting them. He believes its a perching problem since all three have the black scab in the same spot on their feet. We are doing a 15 minute soak daily with medicine that he gave us, and then with a qtip applying Kersasal...
So now that I addressed the bumblefoot with my girIs, which I visited a vet. Before I call the vet again, two of my girls have one swollen eye, same eye on both chickens. Their other eye is normal. They are eating normal, pooping normal, free ranging normal. Any ideas?
Thank you, I bought my girls to the Vet, he did not remove, we are doing a soak and Kerasal. He does not want to damage the skin underneath. He thinks its a perching problem because they all have it in the same spot on their feet.
Everyday I Epsom salt bath them. I rub the spot, I will try tomorrow morning to peal away. I do have tweezers I can try with. Once I pick it away do I bandage it?
So the vet that came shouldn't have tried to extract anything? I will call another vet tomorrow. How else would I remove the scab if I shouldn't cut it?
He was an equine vet, he administered antibiotics. He used a syringe to extract any pus but nothing came out. He told me to keep up with Epsom baths which I have done daily.
