Hello
I got mine at Tractor Supply, its in a blue canister called Garden Dust but the ingredient is permethrin, check the label... at the store I was at they had it over with the medicines. People on this site use Sevin like its baby powder, it kills the honey bees along with everything else...
Hi Ditto on the brooder size you will need something bigger. The best way to avoid pasty butt is to make sure that everyone is drinking and know where the water is then introduce feed, I usually make a mash they love that. They do not need any grit until they have treats, I would wait on that...
That set up won't hold very many chicks. What about making a chicken brooder out of cardboard boxes. Last chicks I got I used several boxes and taped together a rather good size brooder, worked great and then it went out to the garden to compost.
Everyone here is so quick to worm a chicken at the drop of hat....Hey why don't you find out if they have worms first. You can get a kit from My Pet Chicken or take a sample to your Vet. Having worms is hard on a chicken but also worming a chicken that doesn't have worms is hard also.. Would you...

My Easter eggers were pretty much the same and don't want much human interaction but with that said they lay like crazy for me so I totally ok with that! Now they will come running if I shake the Meal worm bag for treats but pretty much want to be left alone...not lap chickens :)...
No they don't need layer feed to lay eggs. I don't even feed layer pellets but opt for Flock raiser and offer oyster shell on the side. They need water and food to produce eggs. Give them what scraps etc you have to get to Monday.... Good Luck
Hi
All thou your intentions are probably good I think that you will really stress your chickens. Do you not have someone that can look after them while you are gone? Best of luck what ever you choose to do,
All my Red Stars literally dropped dead all within 3 weeks of each other, they were just over 2 years old....I think that they are just worn out, not interested in that type of breed any longer ( high production) they were my first flock and I am into other dual purpose breeds since then. The...
Their combs are pale when they are molting that is natural. When the days are longer and the combs get red again they will start laying in late winter/spring
When I leave for the weekend I leave the pop door open so they can get out in the secure run. Of course there is plenty of food and water. If you were leaving for a week or something longer than 3 days or so I would have someone come over to check on things and change their water, gather eggs...
