    calling any one from missouri

I live outside of Cape Girardeau Missouri(southeast Missouri). I have been raising buff brahma chickens since 2014. Before that I tried several other breeds and mixed birds over a nine year period, but chose brahmas as my favorite. I like them because they don't peck each other, are not...

    Brahmas for free ranging

I let my brahmas out to free range most days. They always go back in their coop on their own at night. Mine are too heavy to fly up in a tree.

    Brahma rooster Temperment?

I would separated the males out into a different pen at about 4 months. At eight months I would select the two I liked the best. Next spring I would put the favorite rooster in with the hens and raise a hatch off him. Then take him out and place the other one with the hens for about 1.5...

    Managing LF Brahma Weight

I've had brahmas for about six years and I've always gave them all they would eat without any problems. I give them 16% layer in the spring-fall and a 20% all flock over the winter when they aren't laying.

    Roost for flightless roo

I put a 4x4 block about 20 inches long in the floor of the coop for an old rooster that couldn't make it to the roost anymore. He used it.

Incubator temp went up to 102 during hatch after first pip. Is that okay?

Should be fine if it doesn't go up any more.

I've had several brahma roosters and few show any aggression to people.

    Brahmas

The brahmas I've had are so calm they probably won't bother the kids at all. My daughter and her friends use to catch and hold my brahmas when they were only six or seven years old. The brahmas never pecked or spurred them.

    Brahmas

I've got a buff brahma rooster that weighs 13 pounds 9 ounces. They are the biggest chickens I have ever raised. I've had some jersey giants but they didn't get as big as my brahmas.

A picture of my rooster in the snow this morning. I wish spring would get here so I could start raising the next generation.
