I have a 5 day old peachick and his legs don't work from the hocks down, he's such a fighter but I hate seeing him walking around on his hocks. One hock is swollen with a small sore which I have been putting antibiotic ointment on, the other appears normal. His legs are just not working. I have...
Sometimes the geese pick the worst places to nest, like last year in the rocks at the fishing jetty on our lake, easily accessible by the coyotes, raccoons and humans. Your neighbors sound like jerks the DFG isn't going to tell them who reported. If you get it on YouTube, a whole lot of people...
I love how they imprint when you hatch them yourself. Love geese, but my husband said that he will not share the bedroom with goslings again. I will miss him!
Canada geese are not mean, you should have some wonderful goslings from the cross. If you have any extra eggs from the cross I would be happy to buy them for hatching
Yes you can cook the egg. If you don't have an incubator at least get a thermometer, they should not be going over 100 degrees. You can spray the egg with cool water to keep the temperature down. Better to get an incubator though, because you won't have to babysit the egg all the time.
Canada geese are only aggressive when defending the nest, most birds are. The Canada geese at our lake are actually very friendly, so much so that I put a cracker in my mouth and let the goose take it straight from my mouth. My husband took a picture and it looks like I'm kissing a goose. I...
I am looking for legal Canada goose eggs for hatching and also Sebastopol hatching eggs as well. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it. My incubator awaits and will share the hatching with the nearby elementary school. I live in San Diego, CA. Thank You
That's not cool, even if they are nuisance birds. I'm not totally sure about whether or not a permit is required, but oiling the eggs is legal in situations where the birds are causing damage such as on a golf course. What your neighbors are doing is illegal.
My goose is a house goose also and I don't blame you for watching out for your babies. If there is a safe way to do this we'll figure it out, if not that's fine, no worries. Jen
