Hello! About 3 weeks ago our neighbors dog attacked one of our hens. She has healed and grown most of her feathers back, but is terribly mean to our other chickens. I understand that the need to re-establish their pecking order, but she is hurting the other chickens badly. We have her separated...
Yes, you definitely should have more than 3 girls with your rooster. The recommended amount is 7-13 hens per rooster. We originally had our rooster with two hens (just until we integrated them into our larger flock), and I noticed a huge difference in his behavior when we put him with our 14...
Hi! He is adorable! I have a roo that looks similar, and I suspect he might be a silkie mix (I could be wrong) although he doesn’t have many silkie features besides the feathers. I attached a photo of him :)

I just recently hatched 3 eggs (2 hens one roo) and I got a silkie and an Easter egger, but I’m not sure about the roo. We thought he might be a silkie, but he doesn’t have many feathers on the top of his head or an extra toe. He’s about 8 weeks old, if that helps. Thanks! (He’s in the middle of...
Hello! I just recently hatched some chicken eggs and I can’t tell what breed some of them are. One of the chicks is a very light yellow with white wings, and seems pretty large compared to the others even though they all hatched on the same day (possibly an Orpington?). The other chick that I am...
