Sounds like the cherries are working their magic, especially if they are eating the pips as well.
A friend dropped us off about 3lbs this morning. His cherry tree is absolutely full and he had been eating them for the previous few days, his stomach sounded like a cement mixer.
Hi I have the same problem in Spain only Pollo (18% protein) or Gallina (16%) food is readily available.
I asked a large scale breeder and he said to rear chicks/pullets on the Pollo feed and switch to Gallinas food at 16-18 weeks for the layers. It worked OK for me, although I do add scrambled...

Gracias for all the welcomes. Spain is a great place to keep chickens. We live in eastern Almeria about 3000 ft ASL so it can be windy and cold in the winter.
A lot of my Spanish neighbours keep poultry, the guy next door shook his head and said 'Madre Mia' when he saw my new Cochins waddling...
