Simple thing to help horizontal nipples not freeze.
just wondering...is there a reason your nipples are so high up on your bucket??? I installed mine almost at the bottom of bucket..seems like you losing a lot of water space,especially if you having to tote water very far!!! not criticizing just wondering if I missing something being how I just...- trout5437

chicken math strikes again!!!!
If you think chicken math only applies to the amount of chicken you end up with you would be WRONG!!!!! It also applies to the amount of time you THINK its gonna take to finish your coop and the actual time it takes to complete!!! Lolol....but finally finished....I was off about THREE DAYS!!!!!!- trout5437

2 dead chicks
Chicks are 4 weeks old..the 2 runts of the bunch just up and died.not really sure why.other15 doing fine!!! Any suggestions on why!!! Maybe the other chicks wouldn't let them get water!!! I have them on horizontal nipples and I know they using them cause of water levels being drained down and...- trout5437

help!! ready to move or not????
i have 17 Dominique chicks at 4 weeks of age and I am hoping to move them to a 6x10 (empty) coop I just finished. I will put heat lamp in with them because here in va we are still getting cold nights ( in the 30's). Question is will they be ok in that big of a space? and when will it be ok to...- trout5437

yea you can can buy one like this already made up for $25 bucksor get a 5 pack of nipples for like $6 bucks and make your own and have nipples left over to rig up in buckets for your coop!!! no brainer there!!!!- trout5437

11/32 drill bit...nipples are not completely flush with container but they screwed up tight at the base and are not leaking so all is well.good luck with yours.....I have 17 chicks in brooder so I may add another nipple,seems like there is always one or two at it drinking but they are not...- trout5437
