Overall she seems as if she's still improving, be it very slowly. She's not currently on any meds and seems to be getting stronger; again, very slowly. I'm still feeding her at night to ensure she has a reasonably full crop before I turn the lights out in the room for the night. I was starting...
Thank you both for your replies; I'm happy to report that she's still with us. Seems to be feeling better and slowly regaining some strength. Emphasizing slowly. For quite a while her legs felt so weak, that I sometimes wondered if she was capable of moving them at all. The last few days I've...
Thank you very much for the reply and info. I'm happy to report that she's still with us. Seems to be feeling better and slowly regaining some strength. Emphasizing slowly. For quite a while her legs felt so weak, that I sometimes wondered if she was capable of moving them at all. The last few...
She's still alive and alert, but legs are very weak and she doesn't stand. It's also obvious she lost a lot of weight in this ordeal, any suggestions?
I also posted another thread regarding this (https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1069611/recovering-weak-14-week-old-chick-need-help-please) in...
I have a 14 week old check that I discovered not doing so well about 10 days ago (some of you many have read/responded to my previous post https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1065236/12-week-old-chick-possibly-sick-need-help-please). I still can't say that I know what happened; some suggested...
For those that like to see updates on these kinds of things... She's still with us; still not back on her feet, however actually seems as if she might be starting to feel a bit better. I just got home after having to go out of town for a couple of days. I had someone else taking care of her...
Update - Still a bit tough to say how this is going. Her droppings seem to be returning to more normal, no diarrhea the last two to three times. In the absence of any blood in her droppings and discovering that I'm out of Corid, I started her on some antibiotics in case it's something else...
Well, she's not dead yet, but not showing any signs of recovery. I haven't treated her for cocci because of the lack of blood in her droppings. When I compare her droppings to pictures I can find online, most of them describe the droppings as being from a bird that has stopped eating and lost a...
Thank you very much for the reply and the suggestions. I don't think it's cocci, I've lost chicks in the past to cocci and the symptoms were different. I think more than likely she has just become weak from not eating/drinking enough, she's drinking on her own and although I haven't seen her eat...
I've got 88 12 week old chicks, yes I said 88, and today when I went out to the coop/run I noticed that one of them wasn't moving around the way the others were. When I picked it up it appeared to me that she had probably been in that same spot for at least a day or more. Her crop was empty and...
Update regarding the baby chick... She's doing great now, walking around and eating almost as if nothing had been wrong. I'm not sure what happened, I don't know if she got injured and couldn't get to food, or just wasn't getting to food and got so weak that she couldn't get to food. Kind of a...
That's good info, thank you very much! However I could still really use some guidance regarding how much volume if food/water to feed her and how often. I want to make sure she get's enough, but don't want to stuff her like a turkey. She's too weak still to make it to food and water on her own...
I've got a four week old chick that I'm not sure what happened, found her laying in the brooder a couple of days ago and at first it looked like she might be dead, but she was still breathing. She's smaller than most of the other baby chicks, so next I thought she might have been trampled, still...
