I’m glad to hear she is up and walking around even if the foot looks dead. I’m really surprised the foot never fell off!
My chicken sprained her leg. She was in quarantine for 3 weeks before I decided to make a splint. Although I didn’t feel a broken bone, her lack of recovery made me think...
Hi everyone.
We adopted some more girls into our flock this week. The previous owner did not know what breed of this hen. Does anyone here know?
She looks like she has some gold lacing in her feathers and she has such a sweet/docile personality. She hasn’t given us an egg yet, so I’m not sure...
Thank you so much for the great advice guys! @NatJ @Sussex19 @Lady of McCamley
Update: day 20 and the rest of the chicks are starting to hatch. Luckily our hen stayed broody even tho the first chick hatched 5 days ago! We never had to use the incubator. As of now we have a total of 4 chicks...
Thank you! I think I will leave her in the nesting boxes with food and water and pray for the best.
Non of the other chicks have started pipping yet, so I bought a cheap incubator from tractor supply just in case I need to finish the hatch in there. But I’m going to do my best to keep her on...
Hi everyone.
I am fairly new to raising chickens. One of my hens went broody and I decided to get some fertilized eggs so that we could expand our flock the old fashioned way.
When I bought the eggs the guy I bought them from told me the silkie eggs might hatch a couple days earlier than the...
She has completely snapped out of it :) The past few days she has gained enough head control and balance to roost with the rest of the flock and today she laid her first egg!!
Thank you so much for all of the support. I am so glad I found this forum.
Thanks for asking. I think we are seeing some improvement. She can use the ramp to get up to the coop now, but she still can’t balance on the roosting bars.
I’m still pumping her with vitamins and crossing my fingers for a full recovery. It seems to be very slow progress, but I’ll take it :)
Thank you for your advice. I just gave her some vitamin E and B complex. I also decided to give her some tumeric tea because I read that on another similar forum.
Cross your fingers for me!!
This is her when she gets stressed. She tremors and then her neck goes under her body. 2 minutes after taking this picture she lifted her head back up and began hunting for bugs.
Even when she is not stressed she will tremor and twist her neck approximately every 3-5 minutes. It is the...
