Emerency DIY incubator for abandoned eggs-will it work?

Thank you. Honestly, I don't know how old they are. We apparently had three laying, maybe four, thus the two weeks of hatching. These all had the air areas last time we checked, but have since tried to leave them alone. Any ideas? 3-5 days? Less? Longer? My daughter was quite...

Emerency DIY incubator for abandoned eggs-will it work?

I think temp should be high 90's, not sure about humidity. The only thing I have that will measure humidity is too big to leave inside. I'd have to lift the plastic to set it in real quick, but won't that mess with the humidity? Any other options other than my floaty bowl? Thank you!

Emerency DIY incubator for abandoned eggs-will it work?

It's a very narrow container, so it's lodged quite snugly between the two sides. 😁

Emerency DIY incubator for abandoned eggs-will it work?

After two weeks of hatching eggs, no one is inspired to sit anymore, so I put this together. If you see some error, please let me know. Eggs are probably near hatching, IF still viable. We had three hens that went broody, and successfully hatched nine of 15 over about a ten day period. Eggs...

Broody Bunch has abandoned eggs-what to do?

Thank you all so much! I don't know why I didn't even think of this before panicking, but we put the broodiest hen in a crate with the eggs and one chick. She settled in quite quickly and happily after we added the chick. We had success! One hatched! We have one more pipping, though the hole...

Broody Bunch has abandoned eggs-what to do?

So my Broody Bunch has now abandoned the nest. They were on 15 eggs, nine successfully hatched, over the span of seven days-last one hatched yesterday, first one last Monday. Five of the remaining eggs have the air bubble, but are now cold to the touch. Is there anything we can do, or do we...

    Bullied chick

We now have six chicks, with nine eggs still to hatch, yay Broody Bunch! We have three hens sharing 15 eggs, now nine eggs, six chicks. No one hen seems to particularly be in charge of anything, it's a group effort. When one gets up, the others cover the eggs, though no one seems concerned...

Do I leave the chick, or bring it in?

Thank you! I will pass this info on. This should help alleviate their concern. :)

Do I leave the chick, or bring it in?

We had our first egg hatch today!! Three of the bantam hens (The Broody Bunch, as they've been nicknamed) are all sharing broody duty. There are still about 12 unhatched eggs in the nest. Do we remove the hatched chick? Kids are worried that the mamas are ignoring it, trying to hatch the...

    Pullets or cockerels?

Wow! That would be amazing. Thank you for your time!

    Pullets or cockerels?

Well, the neighbor dog annihilated our little flock, so we've had to replace them. People are asking crazy prices out here for anything feathered, and we lucked out finding some five week old barnyard mixes. I would love help figuring how many of these little guys we may be able to keep-we are...

    I think Australorp, age, sex?

Oh thank you!!! I had no idea they got so mature looking so fast! I'm a dog person, so the chicken thing is new to us.

    I think Australorp, age, sex?

We found this chicken about a week ago. (I have of course posted about finding her, and been watching lost ads, but no one has claimed her yet.) After doing a bit of research, I think she's an Australorp? She does have a green sheen to her feathers, not too noticeable in the pictures. Is...
