    Quail suddenly became aggresive!

    Quail can become aggressive when they are in the mating mode. I notice that when I turn up the light cycle to get somew inter hatching eggs, the boys get excited and the girls get defensive. Springtime and in love makes for crazy emotions.

    It's good to give your quail at least some of the winter off from laying. It's stressful to have to make eggs 24/7/365... they need a break. If you want eggs, consider moving a layer cage to an area with controlled lighting (14hrs/day), and rotating this birds out every month.

    Be careful putting a salve or ointment on large cuts that may end up collecting coop dust and other gunk in the gel after the medicine wears off. Isolate and keep the afflicted in a clean warm cage Animals heal miraculously - that's nature for you.
