    How long is normal for a hen to be in the box?

    Hello all, I have a question on how long it should take a hen to lay her egg once she goes into the nesting box? My Buff Orpington is taking a few hours in the box. Any suggestions? They have only been laying for about 3-4 weeks now. Thanks, Rexx

    Why are the hens in the nesting box so long?

    Ok, I have 6 hens, (3 Barred Rock, 2 RIR, 1 BO). They have been laying for about 3-4 weeks now. When they go into the nesting box to lay, it takes them forever in there, is this normal? The BO has been in there today almost an hour and still no egg. Suggestions please! Thanks, Rexx
