    Both of the parents most likely carry the recessive blue gene. Blue doesn't breed true, so it can either show up from two black parents, or if you breed blue parents, you will have a mixed bag of chicks that are either black or blue.

  11. Meet Ursula, my Partridge Silkie Hen, complete with feathered feet. I don't know why, but her expression just instantly reminded me of Ursula from The Little Mermaid. Accidentally got her with a Black Silkie Rooster (I thought I was bidding on two hens...still undecided on whether to keep the other rooster or not.

  13. My beautiful Blue Splash Silkie Rooster that I can't seem to pick a name for (it's changed 3 times in 2 weeks). I had NO intention of getting a rooster when starting my flock, but no way I could turn him down (plus love his fluffy feet). Friendliest and most laid back boy I've ever had, which is good because the spurs on him are a good 4 inches long and could take out a Velociraptor.
