Thank you. That's my concern. Getting chicks, having one (or both) turn out to be a rooster and then trying to find a safe home for him. I'm going to look for a blue that I know is a pullet.
I already have four pet pigs and two hens and our houses are very close together. I have really great neighbors who save their veggie scraps for my little "farm" and I don't want to make them unhappy with constant crowing. I wish I could find someone with blu Jersey Giant pullets for sale.
I so want to add a blue Jersey Giant! I'm waiting to hear back on some chicks but they are straight run... I'm not supposed to have roosters where I live. Any chance these guys are known to be quiet
I'm waiting to hear back about some blue Jersey chicks that I want to buy, but I'm a little nervous though because they are straight run and where I live we are only allowed to have four hens and no roosters... I think that I posted a zillion pictures here of my Easter Egger chicks when they...
I'm waiting to hear back from a girl that I contacted about blue Jersey Giants. She sold out her first batch, but is going to contact me when her next batch hatches. Does anyone have pictures of their blues, particularly pics of them being held so I can see how big they really are?
I hope that this posts to the right area. I've pretty much just been a lurker so far.
One of my two hens passed away recently and I am looking for a buddy for her. It doesn't matter if she is a layer. My chickens are just pets and we are not big egg eaters here...
Oh the cat couldn't care less about the chickens and the chickens don't seem to care about her when they are out together - it just seems to be at night. Maybe the two things aren't even related... I'm going to do the golf ball thing though. Right now I just go get the chickens from where they...
Hi all,
I have a problem that I did not foresee. One of my cats has decided that my chicken coop is her new napping spot. The nest boxes in particular... Needless to say, the chickens have moved out. I have no idea where or if they are laying but they are safe at night as they have found a place...
