Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I wonder if my white silkies are actually silver and not white. Cotton looks a little gold/lemon, especially in his hackles. He reminds me a lot of Mr P. @rural mouse, could that be red leakage? Could that explain the “orange” down when they were little?

That’s Nestle, my Chocolate Orpington Cockerel. He is 11 months old. We were 96F on Sunday afternoon. Less than 12 hours later we were 36F and the next day dropped to 24F. Winds were 30mph. I really hope this is our last freeze.

I am a month behind in reading, but just wanted to post to say I hope everybody is OK and surviving the storms especially on the US East Coast. @Ponypoor and @BY Bob It is almost a Palindrome! Weather tax

I think it is going ok. She seems to have a little trouble finding the teats sometimes. It doesn’t help that LaLa has a “false teat” right beside one of her other ones. It is a lot smaller but I think the baby still latches on to it by accident every now and then. I have tried to watch for her...

I am once again several weeks behind, but had to post to say one of my goats had her kid this morning! Little girl, 3 lbs 6 oz which I think is within normal range for a single Pygmy cross kid. Lala and baby both seem to be doing ok. Baby goat tax

I don’t post here very often, but dropped by to see all the storm updates. I am near Temple and we were below freezing from early Saturday until this afternoon, most of it in the 20s. You can see more details and some pics in a post I made at the link below. Post in thread 'Fluffy Butt Acres...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Hey y’all, I’m about a week behind in reading, but wanted to pop in to say I hope everyone is surviving this horrible winter weather. So far we are ok. Friday we got around 4” of rain which flooded the pasture before it hit below freezing. Then had some sleet and snow on top of that, finally got...

I think the bacon grease was to attract them, so they would learn the fence can shock them.

What error are you getting? What has changed since the last time you were able to do it? Maybe @notabitail can help.

All four of mine have been broody at least once. Indigo and Henrietta do it at least twice a year and are pretty persistent.

Hmmm, she hasn’t logged in to her account since early December. And latest post I found was October. Sure hope she and Rosie are ok. Does anyone have a way to contact her outside of this website? My Flutterbots are BLRW (or blue laced gold). Here are some pics over the past few years.

Unfortunately those two criteria can be mutually exclusive.

I know the TSCs here get them at the post office. The small local feed store gets theirs in person from Ideal, since we are only about 20 miles away.
