    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Just to follow up on this post.... He turned out to be a he with no doubt. At 2 weeks his comb was very evident and now that comb is bright red with complimentary waddles. Love him non the less but he'll have to go soon.

DAY 14. How are my air sacks?

Well, I had no other hatches. The last one that did hatch, didn't make it. It was very disturbing to open the eggs. 4 pipped internally and the rest I didn't dig around to find out. I basically opened the air cells looking for life. I've come to the conclusion my air cells were too small and...

How big of a run for 10-12 chickens?

It's funny because I only decided to do a hatch for one breed that I couldn't find available. The bielefelders. Well I ordered those eggs..and well then "had to" full up the bator. What a waste it would have been for only 6 eggs? Of those "original" 6 (actually got 3 extras- so 9) 3 went into...

DAY 14. How are my air sacks?

So I'm winding down on day 24 and I've got 7 chickies. 2 arrived today. One this morning an hour after the kids left for school and the last one shortly before they got home .Had she looked like it would have been that soon, I would have taken them in late, but both eggs had the same pips as the...

How big of a run for 10-12 chickens?

Ha.... No I haven't finished. I actually haven't been able to work on it weeks. I've been trying to figure out the build of the run and finally got all my supplies picked up this weekend. I've also been busy with new chicks and just finished my hatch. My hatch rate was horrible. Like 6/28...

Yay! I know that excitement! Ideally, yes.

    the first pip

Mine have in and below. Remember, the air cell continues to draw down during lockdown. There have been some changes. So even if its outside your last markings, it could very well be in the air sack. I would be concerned if it's completely opposite of the area. Good luck and enjoy your hatches.

DAY 14. How are my air sacks?

Well... IT'S A BOY! wahhh. I see a white spot on the head, but the back has some unusual marks that differ from Ross. Have to wait for it to fluff up some. @AmyLynn2374Guess this Chandler? Lol

DAY 14. How are my air sacks?

Awww...Thanks. I'm enjoying them. And I don't think that bielefelder is going to wait. She's started zipping. ..wahhhh BUT lets play a little game. Phoebe was a quiet peeper in the shell vs her brother. Even now, their peeps are very different. This egg is a quiet peeper like Phoebe...

DAY 14. How are my air sacks?

My shipped chicks caught on immediately. Showed 1 right out of the box and...well monkey see monkey do. I love them and plan to add them to the coop with a self watering system. btw...the boys get home at 8. Hoping this bielefelder will hold out until then. I'm not interacting much with it...

DAY 14. How are my air sacks?

Now look at this bielefelder roo. We will rehome him at some point, but i would really like to see how he turns out. His colors are amazing. Blue mixed with gray, yellow and touch of light brown. I'm going to get my big Nikon out to capture his true colors. I'm naming him Ross...
