I am over 70......raised a few birds and picked a few eggs 
I now have a small flock of Chanticleer that I think are the Ideal small flock bird. Developed here in Canada for cold Canadian winters. They are a bit of an Uppity Bird..Eh.knowing they are NOT like the ordinary chicken .
and a few geese .. and quail , deer, elk, bear ,and the rest of the creatures .
I live kms from anyone at the end of the road or Path
