Don't know how I missed this. We're from south of Hbg. but we have a place just west of New Germantown. We go through Loysville once a month or so when we go up there. Do you have any kids from your goats? We are looking for a new doe.

I must respectfully disagree with you. This is just another chip in the way the government is stripping away the personal freedoms of the American people. Politicians aren't naive enough to think they can take an ax to our liberties so they use a pocketknife to slowly whittle away at...
Mine get bread almost every day and I've never had any sick birds. I tear it up and watch them fight over it. It's actually pretty comical as they grab a piece and run with it. Once they get it down they run back for more. It's a bit like a shark feeding frenzy.
On my moms side - Scandinavia early 1500's. Dads side - Ireland late 1800's. Don't know why they stopped there and I haven't taken the time to look any deeper.
When I moved to the Harrisburg metro area in 1983, I met Gene at a weekly volleyball game. He gave nicknames to everyone that came to play. For whatever reason I became "unclejoe". In 85, I met Mike in a completely different circle of friends. He had this habit of calling his guy friends "dad"...
I had one this past summer that was similar but the ridge wasn't quite as distinct. The farmer that delivers our feed told us that eggs can get markings like this if the hen is interrupted during the laying process. Don't know if that's the case here, but I thought I'd throw it out there for...

I always wonder about this. I think a lot of people are raising chickens that don't have a farm and live in more urban areas and are enjoying them and think more of the pet thing and take extra precautions for their care. Not that farmers don't, but this chicken thing is getting big...
Lets think about this. 100, 200, 500 years ago, nobody heated their coop. All those generations later we all are still keeping chickens. Somehow they managed to get through even the coldest winters to provide us with what we all enjoy - Fresh, delicious eggs. Keep the rain, snow, and wind out...
SCAM!! There was an identical situation on craigslist this past summer involving cars only you were allowed to keep $100 for your trouble. Don't fall for it!!!!!
Our 30 yr old oil furnace died 3 yrs ago and we put in a wood furnace. I tied it into the existing duct work and chimney. We have an abundant supply of wood that I bring home almost every day from my tree trimming business. So fortunately for us, we don't need to turn the heat down. The last...
Now more than ever, I miss my grandparents. They also grew up during the depression and never stopped living differently. My "pop-pop" always had a HUGE garden and 20-30 chickens. I really would have liked to talked to him this past summer when I was working my monster garden. My "nana" canned...
