We got our 1st chickens in April 2021.
We stared with just 17 chickens.
As of July 2022, we now have 98 chickens!
I have Silkies, Barred Rocks, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Easter Eggers, Jersey Giants, Bantam Cochins and Favorelles, Buff Orpingtons, Barnevelders and 1 Pyle rooster.
My favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens is watching them socialize and just be chickens. Some of my birds are so sweet and cuddly, it's hard to believe they're chickens.
Some of my other hobbies are raising German Shepherds and I plan on breeding once they are mature. Gardening and painting. I love nature, so being outside is where I'm happiest. I like building and creating new structures for my birds or dogs.
I have been married for 17 years and have 3 children. We have 4 German Shepherds 1 Pomeranian, 3 indoor cats, and of course our chickens. Our oldest daughter is in the US Navy. We live in the country now and have 26 acres in a little quiet town in North Tennessee.
