Crud. I think we bought three barred rock roosters. Such a bummer as they are my favorite looking chicken and supposed to be good chicken pets! Is it the redness of the comb and wattles growing so quickly that is a sure sign of a rooster?
Okay, we're going to try to rehome the biggest possible rooster if he is indeed a he - so I'm going to post another couple pictures of it. Is this almost certainly a rooster or is it possibly a hen with a big attitude? This chick is 3 or 4 weeks; we're not quite sure.

We recently bought 5 chicks (3 barred rocks and 2 rhode island reds). As new chicken owners and residents of a city that only allows hens, we really emphasized that we needed girls! Now, at 3 or 4 or 5 weeks old (the guy was not really forthcoming with info!), each of our chicks is growing...
