    The nesting boxes are just standard OSB with a tin roof. I used flex seal on the inside to coat the boxes to help keep out moisture inside. I did that on the floor of the roost and litter trays.     I finished building a coop in January for my 15yo who had joined 4H. It was a slow build....after work....on weekends as time allowed. This is the end result. We started with 6 chickens...then added 4 more...but through attrition (explained in my welcome post) we're down to 7. 4 red...

    New member from La.

    My 15 yo son joined 4H and decided to raise chickens. I went all in and built a nice size coop and run for them. Started with 6 red sexlinks that were about a year old and then got 4 pullets. We're down to 7 now.....1 didn't make it through the sudden snowstorm we had down here a while back...

    Great article......but in my own experience I've found two of my chickens killed by a feral cat while they were seeking refuge inside one over the last 5 days. I like cats but this one has to go.
