    MOLTING

This hen has LOTS of PIN feathers going on. I'm relieved to know that is what this is. HOwever, I'm not finding any information that...

    Why Have a Rooster?

Yes...it would. However I only allowed two roosters in with the hens at one time and still got chaos. I never put them all together. The excess roosters where kept in a separate coop and run.

    Why Have a Rooster?

Great writing and great story. I too find the mating act very brutal in the chickens. My sister said the same thing about the me too movement prism you saw in this. I ended up with 8 roosters not by choice and decided to take the opportunity to learn more indepth about their interactions with...

    Oyster shell question

Do you have to the clean the egg shells in any way? I read something awhile that discouraged using their shells. I know nothing and would really like to use the shells but need more information. Thank you.

This was a fabulous read and very well written. We are looking at our "first kill" and this has helped more than you know. Even down to naming a tree "the cone tree". Thank you !

    Why Have a Rooster?

That's an interesting idea. So at what age would you integrate a rooster with mature hens? I have eight roosters (not by choice) and I now am out 8 laying hens. Anywho, I wouldn't mind having one rooster but I've had nuttin but trouble from these RIR roosters. They really need some straighten...

    All these feathers!!!

Question on Oyster shell on the side. OMG it's like crack to my RIR. I was dolling it out daily because it is so expensive and everytime I pulled out the box; the chicken went literally nuts stepping over each other to get the flakes i laid out in the feeding area. Is this normal? I'm not sure...

    Pellet vs Free Range/Foraging

This sounds good. In what form are you getting these herbs and probiotics to the chicken and how often? My chickens are at the 20 week mark and several have weak shells (I supplement true oyster shell) and the yolks aren't a bright orange like I'd like them to be. Still getting pulled size...
