    Ended Official BYC Contest: Worst Chicken Molt Pictures - Fall/Winter 2012

    My speckled Sussex, Gladys, molted in September. She lost more after this picture was taken but it's the best I have. The best part was when she got out of the backyard. A neighbor came by and said "Umm, I think one of you chickens is out and she looks really baaaaddd. Is she sick?"
  2. First eggs! 3 from Gladys (sussex) and 2 from Ruby (RIR). I was out of town for a couple of days and returned to find these waiting for me.

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? In November 2011, we picked up 3 pullets from a local feed store (Ruby, Gladys & Gertrude). We were told that all 3 were hens 16-22 weeks old. In Feburary, 2 of my girls (Ruby & Gladys) starting laying but the 3rd starting...
