    [help] observing cockerel behavior

I see one always pecking the girls. Not sure if it's pecking order, normal, or him being an idiot.

    [help] observing cockerel behavior

Ah, so that's bad? I think I've been seeing that, but I also think my nasty cockerels are also the ones with the bad combs.

    [help] observing cockerel behavior

I'm sure this has been asked several time, so feel free to forward me to a thread with the answers I seek. What is considered a good cockerel/cock? I have cockerels. Yes, I know them attacking the human is bad, but how does a good cockerel treat the ladies? I'm trying to decide if I have...

What age can my chicks have grass?

they eat a bit of grass. I think I saw them eat crabgrass, but I think that's a "weed" too. They're not ripping it up like people say they do I think since they don't eat lawn grass and prefer to eat seeds, they'll eat what they want and leave the rest untouched. Thus, allowing the flower to...

What did you do with your flock today?

Corid goes in water and works by mimicking thiamine (Vitamin B1) If Valbazen is oral and doesn't do what Corid does, then it should be fine.

https://www.thehappychickencoop.com/chicken-poop/ I'd do the 9.6% corid because you don't see any worms.

Rhode Island Reds for meat birds

According to the SOP book, a male RIR cock should be 8.5 pounds. If you want that, you'd need to get them from a breeder vs a hatchery.

    Seeds to Sow

I let mine free range, and they don't bother with the grass and stuff too much. In fact, if there are clover flower buds, they'll eat the flower head and leave the rest alone. I do see them uproot tender greens, which I think is also clover. But recently, they've ignored all the green stuff in...

[help] improving premade metal run coop thingy

Sorry, been meaning to reply, but haven't been able to figure out how to ask it. Do you know if it's possible to do similar panels from the chain link fence posts you can buy from a fence supply business? The panels are nice, but I'm wanting something shorter and the panels can not be cut down...

What did you do with your flock today?

We got this space between fence lines that have a bunch of dead leaves and branches, my chickens always run to it when I let them out. Then they freak out because they can't get back the way they think they came though. Not all fence holes are equal.
