    Disabled Duck

I've previously been on the poultry podiatry site and tried a few things. When I tie the legs so they don't split apart so far, she gets them behind her and then can't get up. I've used a corn pad to flatten out the foot, but then she can't move around at all. I tried a sling, but she squirms...

    Disabled Duck

Need advise ... one leg is twisted with the foot curled in and the other goes out to the side. I have been feeding Purina "Flock Raiser" and started giving vitamins a few days ago. She's a happy duck, can stand for a few seconds at a time, and eats and drinks. I put her in the pool for short...

RIR Eating her own soft shelled egg, other have hard shells

One of our Rhode Island Red is laying a soft shelled egg every day and eating it. The other 5 chickens lay hard shelled eggs and none of the chickens eat the hard shelled eggs. Does anyone one have any ideas as to why only one chicken lays soft shelled eggs and why she eats them?

    Gimpy the Turkey needs help

I sent emails and pictures to 2 wildlife rehab centers. I'm going to call the vet on Monday. In the meantime, I've been preparing my son for the worst.

    Gimpy the Turkey needs help

We got Gimpy in a sling today. He was a happy fellow eating fresh grass out of my sons hand while I was working with his leg. After a better evaluation on his leg, I can feel that it's fully twisted before it gets to the joint. The tendon is on the joint correctly, the joint is just pointed the...

    Gimpy the Turkey needs help

I'd expect that siince it's been a progression, that it's not out of joint, but I'm not experienced on orthopedic issues. Sounds like the only thing to do is find a poultry vet, which I'm not sure I can afford :(

    Gimpy the Turkey needs help

I don't feel any breaks. The twist seems to be at the joint and possibly start a little above the joint.

    Gimpy the Turkey needs help

There wasn't a single event that happened that I know of, it's been a progression. At about a 2 months ago we noticed his leg sticking out to the side when he was laying down, but he was still walking normal. In the last month his leg has progressively moved from the 12 o'clock position to the 6...

    Gimpy the Turkey needs help

Help! Our turkey, Gimpy, is becoming worse very day. Gimpy is 4 months old. His foot/leg was turned to the side and has progressively moved backwards like he is doing the splits. He is no longer able to stand straight up for long periods of time and hobbles around. He can fly into the trees and...
