Thank you so much for the dosage information.
She's not doing so great since yesterday. She is very lethargic and mostly keeps both eyes closed. She does occasionally get to the food and water and eats, but overall, she is slower than normal.
I'm hoping she'll make it to Monday . I'm...
Still no swelling or wheezing. She seems a little bit better, but definitely not 100%. Just put a drop of the polysporin into her right eye. She didnt like it, but was ok afterwards.
It appears that the only way for me to get Tylan is through a vet. I will be in upstate NY next weekend, and...
OK, thank you for your reply. I will try to get some drops this morning. I have some polysporin pink eye drops. Can they be given to chickens?
She looks pretty slow this morning, but perhaps she is having a hard time seeing.
Hi everyone,
The last few days, our silkie, Suzie, started keeping her right eye closed. We were monitoring her, and she seemed healthy otherwise, but she was being bullied by another chicken so we thought she may have injured it somehow, perhaps by getting pecked. Examination didn't show any...
We took them inside and gave them a warm bath. They are not fighting at all.
My RSL just took a turn for worse. Head down, breathing heavily, and seems to be having trouble breathing. She doesn't look like she's going to make it :-(
We tried to give her water, but she wasn't taking it...
2 of my chickens have become sickly looking.
The first is a brown silkie. She lost the feathers on her head a few months ago and seems a bit ruffled. I thought she was molting, but it hasn't gotten any better. She was laying up until 2 weeks ago. Today she started to squeak when we go near...
The grower feed is non-medicated...so it should be OK.
The previous feed was not moldy or clumpy...this is also the same for the current feed.
I am feeling a bit more relaxed now...thanks to all. My kids were pretty freaked out when the hens stopped laying, but you should have heard them this...
OK thanks :-)
I have some grower feed left over. It is usually higher in protein...I can try to see if they'll eat that.
I never thought of giving it to them, because I heard you shouldn't eat the eggs if the hens are eating grower feed....Not sure if that is accurate.
Thanks again.
This group is awesome :-)
I am feeling a bit better. Hopefully they will get back to themselves soon.
So it is normal for laying to stop during the molt?
So they did not lay again today. It appears that one of them is really losing her feathers, because I am starting to see bare patches. The other may not be losing them.
I bought some pigeon feed (just to see if they would eat something) and them seem to be eating that a bit, but not too...
I got them this year and was told they were around a year old. That would make them at least 18 months old.
I just noticed that they are both in the nest huddling. I did not see lice, etc. Not sure about the worming.
The poo I do see seems normal..
Help.,
I was unable to get the same food as normal and my 2 RIRs have not been eating. This has been going on for just over a week. Egg laying stopped and now they are starting to lose feathers.
I tried to supplement with vegetables and other seeds, etc, and they seem to eat it, but not sure...
