Hey! How can I help this little dude? His foot is going backwards.
I've done splints for splayed legs in the past with great success but with the angle of this leg I'm not sure how to do it.
TIA
Yep, they are from Dusky Feathers. The drake I rescued in the fall from a lady nearby who hatched him that spring. He was a bit crusty so we named him Rusty. Here he is...
The rest of my flock is a mix of black, blue, silver and lilac.
I also have 33 eggs hatching over the next 24hrs AND...
I'm hoping one of the other two is a hen and one a drake. 🤞 I also have one snowy runner duckling with them. I had 7 snowy eggs and only two hatched and one had bad wry neck and unfortunately did not make it.
I have a full grown snowy runner drake from last year's hatch so I'm hoping that one...
Oh thank you! That's actually where I ordered my eggs from. I can't believe I missed that as I've read over all the info on there several times in the past. So much info to take in when learning about genetics.
I believe my one duckling (Rain) is infact a blue trout then as that's what she...
I just hatched out some eggs I purchased from an Apricot Trout breeding program. It was stated there was a chance of apricot trout and blue trout.
Upon hatch I noticed one of the ducklings was a bit darker - still yellow but with more of a light blue tinge. Now they are starting to get their...
Update on the chicken egg...
It was still there in the morning. It was also still there this morning.
When I opened the coop this morning the 2 fake eggs and 1 chicken egg were all up against the door and rolled out as the ducks left the coop. I just left them there. In the afternoon we were...
It's now nearly mid April and I have only received 1 egg since October from my 11 hens (7 runners, 1 crested appleyard and 4 calls).
2 of the runner girls are previous layers (3 years old). The rest were all hatched last August.
I've never had this issue before as previous years they have...
Ok, thank you for all that info!! Makes more sense now.
One more questions, if breeding a Welsh harlequin to my crested appleyard what would be the outcome of that?
Ok so considering his mom was either silver or black and dad was either blue or my Ancona coloured drake then he would be homozygous for black correct?
Also, their babies would carry the moms Genesee and if bred to another duck carrying those genes their babies could have the Appleyard...
Awesome thanks. I've read over that article several times. Very interesting but I'm still left with so many questions. 🙈🤣
Quick one: I've noticed this week that my crested appleyard hen has taken to my blue runner drake. Any ideas what will come of that paring?
My ducks still have yet to lay me an egg this year so I'm back with another question about genetics to fill the void. 🙈
1. Crested Apple Yard Hen with my Snowy Runner Drake...
2. Ancona Coloured Runner Drake. He's my fav drake and I can't seem to hatch any ducklings like him. I'm hoping the...
So interesting!! I wonder which of my 2 drakes carried the brown. 🤔 My blue bibbed or my Ancona coloured (white with black freckles and spots).
I just got some pics of Nacho (potential lilac) today. She's much darker now and more brown than before but still with a purple undertone. She also...
I picked mine up off a guy local to me who breeds tons of birds. Just rehomed the male a few days ago.
Also attaching a pic of a mini runner I saw in a local FB group. Runner x call cross.
