    Any hope? Adoptive mama advice

Wow that a story. I hoped she would accept her like that! The chick that passed away and the chick we replace it with was the same type but one was a silver laced and one gold laced (Wyandotte’s). They look pretty identical to me but maybe she could tell. I tried two different times and she...

    Any hope? Adoptive mama advice

Thanks. I feel like such an idiot. If I get another chick or two what will the integration period look like later when they’re ready to go outside??? Maybe we should give the chick a new home instead. We only got her because I was worried about the original chick growing up alone 😭 but the...

    Any hope? Adoptive mama advice

    Broody a month into laying?

Thanks for the advice. She slept in the box last night. I took her egg and the fake egg she was sitting on. I definitely don’t want any more chickens, we are content with our 6. I don’t have any males so no chance of it naturally occurring thankfully. I’ve seen a couple people say they...

    Broody a month into laying?

I think it’s definitely coming. I haven’t seen her out of the box today. It’s bedtime and shes not heading to the roost like usual. I feel bad trying to break her :hmm

    Broody a month into laying?

My BO started laying a month ago and has started to exhibit broodiness already. She’s still laying and not in the nest all day but definitely more than usual and growls if you dare disturb her. Is there any harm in just letting her go? She will not be hatching chicks. Or do I have to break...

Newest concern - egg color and texture change

I don’t know, I have a pretty good view now after trial and error in camera placement. I’m pretty positive it was her as she is the first to lay every day and my 6th didn’t make an appearance in the box the last two days but we will see 🤔

Newest concern - egg color and texture change

yes one lays light blue and another lays Olive without speckles. Everyone laid yesterday so I know it’s hers. here it is along with my other eggs from yesterday: (my other brown layer laid later in the day) Here’s a normal day: Anywho, she laid already this morning and it looks normal...
