Found about 20 bees in the coop when I got home today.
They are coming in the coop door now that my chicks are allowed to go out in the run.
I always have a few bees around and I don't think there is a hive anywhere close, it's just the desert They seemed to be hanging around the feeder, not...
The deer haven't touched any of the plants and we have had them out for 3 years. I think since they are so close to the house they just take water and run.

Here is how I ran my wire. Red keeps out diggers. Blue is extra protection in case they dig through, plus covers the top from hawks and such. This drawing is of my run area only. My coop is a solid wooden building.
Sorry, but chicken wire keeps chickens in and not preditors out. Most preditors can dig right through chicken wire. You need welded wire on the floor attached to the walls.
Sounds like it crawled under. I put wire 12" up the inside of the fence, under the fence and out 18 inches and buried it. Keeps the diggers out also.

This species is a constrictor, meaning it suffocates its prey, coiling around small animals and tightening its grip until they can no longer draw breath, before eating them. (The process of constriction.) Though they do consume mice and rats, the Black Rat Snakes also willingly consume...
Is the snake getting in the coop?
Do you have chicken wire at least a foot up the sides from the bottom?
Snakes are good things, especially non poisoneous ones.
