    Dad is a Rhode Island Red and auracauna mix. Moms are leghorns, sapphire gem, black star, Americana, and one of two silver laced.

    Trees are starting to leaf out. Also am rethinking the coop and run areas to level things out and provide a larger covered area.

    The problem with the cover was it was outside the run and the racoons were able to get close without being seen. I will be setting up some places for the girls to hide in the open run though, thanks for reminding me.

    We do have multiple large trees around the coop and runs, I did not show that well in the pic, but they are starting to get leaves now which seems to help keep the hawks away. Dave

    Here is our current setup. I am in process of setting up the run and coop on the right for our 7 chicks which are pushing 5 weeks old now. I am deciding if I want to start covering the 30 by 50 run area now, or just keep them in the enclosed runs. Would like to allow them to free range again...

    I am rethinking my main coop as well. Have a 10x20 run and am in the planning stage but already have the materials to build a 4x8 slanted roof coop to the end of it. That way they still have the run to hang out in for hawk protection and a larger coop to accommodate chicken math.
