I raise meat birds as well as layers....I raised 25 cornish cross last year and plan on doing 50-75 this year. Do it seperate the cornish cross are disgusting. They eat all day and with that comes pooping all day. It makes a total mess, not to mention your birds need different diets as they mature.

I like the interior boxes I have 4 nesting boxes for 18 hens and I could get away with 2. They seem to be drawn to the boxes with eggs already laid. This summer I am building roll out boxes and will only build 2.

I made a water heater out of a metal feed pan and a clay flower pot. I put the bulb in the insulated galv. base and put the pot over it. I then put 2 bungee cords on to hold my waterer on. We have had alot of frigid days in Michigan this winter and I have had zero freeze ups.
