    Okay... who did it?

Hey all. I have golden comets, who are about 18 weeks old and have been laying for a couple weeks. I also have a silkie and a bantam porcelain d'uccle who are the same age. They all share the coop with a younger flock and a few ducks. We got quite a surprise today... who did it? :clap...

Dogs that are good with chickens?

Runner here as well 😊. I have a black lab (a year old now) who is great with chickens and ducks (he tries to share the pool with the ducks but they shoo him out). He is also an amazing running friend. I take him off lead alot on the trails, but he is good with a leash as well. Loves to swim...

    Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I agree 100%, mainly the reason I hesitate with any type of poultry. It's like dentists, been around forever yet still using the same old practice 🙃. It may change as more and more people are looking for specific poultry vets and medicine, just need the resources and funding (easy enough...

Yes, us too! Including black bears (knock on wood) they have not bothered the birds but they have ravaged the bird seed, feeders, broke a rail on my porch and my garage (forgot to close the door one night). We love the nature preserve and run the trails quite often, just never know what you...

I do not have an interest in owning turkeys or guineas, unless they are rescues and in need of some TLC to live out their lives doing whatever it is they do best - I have been looking into starting an animal sanctuary for animals who make it from the Big Ag or any place that had less than...

Managing Pekin Ducks in Winter - shared coop with chickens

Where would I fins the heated buckets? The chickens also prefer the duck bowls over their poultry waterer - I guess they like mud as well 😏 - granted with the amount of rain we have had - they really have no choice!

Now I see why I never wanted to make a log in 😂😂 I am such a sucker! - we currently have ducks, chickens, dogs, cats - live on a bit over 20 acres, which half is hayfields - and.. mini cows! I have been looking into expanding the homesteading - I actually did estimates this year on how much hay...

Managing Pekin Ducks in Winter - shared coop with chickens

Thank you for the reply , I will look into the same cement mixers as I believe they are rubber? Yes, the pond is built in and has a drain so I can refill, but that's not feasible during winter. I know they will be fine, just looking at all options to keep them happy 😊

Managing Pekin Ducks in Winter - shared coop with chickens

Hello everyone - looking for some advice to ease my anxiety about the upcoming winter 🥶. I have a shared coop/run that houses 2 pekin ducks and 18 chickens of various breeds. I do not keep water in the coop as the ducks are extremely messy, although I do keep the feed in it. They all free...

How to treat niacin deficiency appropriately?

Hello! I had to give b-complex to both my pekins. I used a syringe to measure out 1ML and put it in a bowl over some watermelon once a day. I held the bowl while they ate to make sure they got it all. They gobbled it right up everytime. It was the only thing I could find that they didn't...

Think chicks can move outside yet?

Hi, I am also in NEPA. I just moved my little 3 weeks and 6 weeks into the coop yesterday. They have a heat plate if they need it, but the coop (actually its part of a shed we have) stays pretty warm (I have a fan blowing in there as we have older chickens as well that use it), and I haven't...
