Bc she won't sit if I move them. That's why. She rejects a nest that's been moved. Obviously if moving them were an option I would have. She broke them all so it doesn't really matter anymore, thanks for the help.
I've been leaving the porch light on, bought additional flood motion lights, and I've been putting my Bluetooth speaker on the front porch playing Joe Rogan podcast all night. So far no issues. I did put up game cams and caught what I think might be a dog. If it's a dog I'm putting up fencing...
We have a run that's super secure and a large chicken coop. These geese refuse to go in the coop and prefer to be outside. Last night was the first night I couldn't get them in because they decided not to leave the nest. They got really hostile with me so I let them be. The gander was actually...
Hi! I got a mated pair of American buff geese and they laid their nest under the steps to our front porch. They wouldn't leave the nest and I took the risk of letting them tend to it and woke up this morning to my gander, Aries missing. I found his body out in the pasture, something got him. Now...
So they are now 9 weeks old. I can't keep them all 🫠 Maybe 1. As of right now I only have 11 hens and what's looksling like 8 Roo's. I hatched olive Eggers and BCM and ended up with another 3.
Well that makes complete sense. It's a little disheartening bc I really enjoy them so much. Lesson learned. I have 10 more hens coming and then I have 15 copper maran eggs incubating. I'll likely just end up keeping one of these guys then.
Okay, so I got 5 straight run barred rocks. I didn't pick them and figured it would be fine if I got a few roo's. Well, a few is two and I'm thinking I have 4 and only one hen 🫠 These guys are my favorite amongst the EE'S and leghorn hens. They are 6 weeks old. I'm getting another 10 hens in...
Here is a better picture of the darker one. Black feet, skinny neck, smaller build but taller. She was solid black but some silver and tinges of brown are popping up.
I knew they were colored differently but as they are maturing I have noticed they are feathering differently and their stance isn't the same as the rest of the chick's. So I'm definitely thinking they are something different. But I'm new to all of this so I have no clue.
Hi! I'm Brittany. I lived my entire life in Houston, Texas. I moved last year to west North Dakota on 10 acres and just acquired my first set of chicks to start my flock. I am using them as therapists/companions/egg layers. I am already way more attached than I should be to my 14 baby chicks...
Can anyone tell me what these little gals are?! They look very different from the rest of my chicks which were a mix of leghorns, "Easter Eggers", and Barred Rocks. I know they are not Barred Rocks or Leghorns. The other Easter Eggers are straight yellow with tinges of darker yellow spots.
