Regular coop cleaning sounds like drudgery. Why wouldn't the coop be designed to self clean? If the coop floor were expanded metal the poop would just fall to the ground. And if the floor were say 6-8" off the ground a skirt would still offer shelter from the elements. Chicken poop is great...

We just purchased a farm. Lots of work to do before I build a coop and invite tenants. But I am always looking at chickens. Coronation Sussex might be my choice, docile, dual purpose, and have breeding value. All good. But, where to find good breeding stock??
Several years ago visiting a friend in Kileen, I went to a poultry auction and was introduced to Coronation Sussex chickens. I have been looking for a breeder ever since. Speckled and Light are plentiful, but Coronation elusive. Are there any breeders in New England?
