I had the same problem. I put one of these battery operated light switch lights in the coop and after a couple nights no longer had to turn it on. It worked! It cost only a couple bucks. I bought them originally to use in my dark closet! I just placed it by the door way inside. Then after...
You are such a wealth of knowledge! Thank you! I hope I'm not exhausting you, but is it ok to do rice and buttermilk along with electrolytes or one or the other for that as well? Bongoline, how are your girl's doing?
Some of my girls have diarrhea also due to the heat. I add an electrolyte to their water daily. Can i give all my girls probios on their food or just the ones with runny stools? This would be difficult to do.
I like that fencing, but I agree with you, it is pricey. I saw this on Amazon when I was searching for temporary fencing. It's not as nice as what you picked out but for easily movable fencing I was thinking it looked like it would work. I'm gonna try to post the link and you can tell me what...
Ahhhh....gotcha! I raked all the top and the girls were not super impressed! I will get deeper into the creepy crawlies! Slimy yet satisfying and the cream filled goodies!
Ha! I love how they all use the same bar! I don't know if my girls will ever roost? They will go in and out of the coop during the day and I notice they will perch some but at night they are all huddled together in the corner still! Love your picture! I was thinking about getting a baby...
Thank you Mrs K and Ridgrunner! I was feeling a bit guilty not letting them out. I will continue to throw in the greens that they love. Maybe a wood stump to change things up?
So they come home on their own in the evening i assume? I've watched on YouTube how some people call them to the coop via shaking the treat jar lol. Have you ever lost one to predators during free ranging?
This reply is ridiculously late, and I apologize! I didn't see your post because I'm not very good at this. Trying to figure out the BYC sight. My girls did great, I hope yours did too? They actually all still huddle together at night and they are 10 weeks old now! Curious if yours go on...
Good Morning! My girls are 10 weeks old today! Woo Hoo!!! As a first timer, my thoughts were to never free range because of predators and a million other reasons my wild imagination could take me to. I've grown quite attached to all of them and they are an investment I don't take lightly. But as...
I haven't talked or been so concerned with poop since my kids were little! New chicken mamma now and suddenly that's my topic of the day! So my question is, is this diahrea? It looks red in the picture but it's more brown than it appears.
