They got cozy, I am going to change our the wire mesh to a box so they can use it as more shelter as they won't need it as a "run" they can go into the yard, our winters can get cold but we are planning on keeping the side area rug out for them. Even if it's cold, I think they will be able to...
Yeah, I got the coop and didn't like it on site, it was much smaller than I thought, it would be like I said, I'm going to remedy that in the spring with a better coop it may not be as cute, but it will be bigger, I'm thinking tough shed conversion. And chicken math a few additions come spring...

I have the same issue, I have a huge yard but hawks, eagles, owles, coyote, and fox. I'm thinking of doing the chain link fence with the top and adding 4 more hens and raising the top of my crappy store bought coop & 2 more nesting boxes.
I am watching 3 hens for Ronda up from Tx till next week. I'm feeling quite bummed when she comes to get them, it took a bit for them to settle in, but they are all settled in and friends now. Even have caught two of the girls snuggling up in the nest box together. Now, don't get me wrong, I am...
I hate to even say this! But there are A TON of those types of jobs up in AK! My DH Sean, just got back right before Xmas, the oil and gas industry up there is about to kick it, he was with a huge helo company, (nightmare job!) but dealt with a ton of those people. I bet he even knows someone...
I'd jump on that fence in a snap, but my DH has been down with a bad back for the past few days, I'm going to have to pop for a chain link later this summer to partition off my hard for chickens/garden.
We are all down in the dumps over here with the unemployment blues too, I hope Bob finds...
He was in a sales capacity for a big aviation maintenence software company which was sold, they laid off all the employees, then he got a job as a regional sales manager up in AK for Evergreen Helo, what a nightmare. They are closing the base, never relo'd us and left him stranded up there with...
What does hubby do? We are both unemployed and looking too... My DH is in aviation and I owned my own wine business the past 5-6 yrs then was in Finance the 18 before that. Had an interview yesterday but it wasn't right for me. I guess I'll keep looking.
Have you tried looking at Dakota Ranch Rescue? We got our Rot from them and he has been a joy! They had lots of good dogs, that are good with chickens because they live on the ranch with some.
