Chick #2
My other suspect OEs.
This one I'm thinking looks like a pullet.
Chick #3
And this one I'm thinking Roo. But um... Does he even look like an OE??
Chick#4
Pullet? Still not sure if it's an OE...
And this little Barred Rock looks like a boy right???
Any ideas what this little booger is? I'm fairly certain he's a Roo. They were supposedly 2 weeks old when I got them (i think they were a week), so that would put him at about 4-5weeks old. He's supposed to be an Olive Egger, but I'm just not certain.
What do y'all think? Looks like a Roo...
So I started out with 13 chicks. 4 of which were BRs. I have lost all but one of my BRs! And the one I'm left with looks like a Roo. He was the lightest of all my wee ones. Sigh. What do y'all think? He'll be 3 weeks this Tuesday, I believe.
Uhg. My same naughty Barred Rock is all in a tizzy this morning again. I don't know what her deal is. She peeps incessantly. She doesn't go under her mama. She doesn't seek the heat lamp (she goes away from it actually). And she just peeps and peeps. She does this in the mornings, and then by...
I'm glad I'm not alone! It's fun watching them go about. She has 13, so I'm nervous about letting her loose with all of them just yet. They're so naughty! Lol
Perhaps it's all taboo what I'm doing, but I'm ok with being a rebel, I suppose. But my broody hen adopted my chicks (these are my first chicks, as I got the other girls when they were a year old). And I've already let them out in a small run outside the coop. They're really enjoying everything...
Hmm came out to the coop to an awfully noisy Barred Rock chick. She was snuggled into mama and still chirping loudly. I shoved her under mama and she popped out a moment later- chirping obnoxiously all the while. She also had her little wings out from her body a bit. So I brought the wee one in...
Have you guys tried the whole turning them upside down thing? Anyone ever find that to be semi true? If you turn them upside down and they hold their feet close to their body, they're supposed to be female, and if they put their feet out they're supposed to be males. I'm sure it's not even 80%...
Thanks!
I'm just not really certain. The guy that I got them from wasn't super helpful and he had a kid pull the chicks out for me to pick from (after the kid asked how he would know which ones were Olive Eggers). And the picking through them trying my best to guess which ones were females...
