Chickens laying in boxes but leaving without laying an egg

Do your newest pullets have all their feathers? The only time we’ve lost feathers was due to picking, which i determined was from overcrowding.

Hi, I need to rebuild our nest box and wondering how this design has held up for you? Thank you so much for posting, this is a superbly interesting design!

Oldish empty coop, what would cause this?

I got rid of my chickens two years ago and my coop has set empty since. I’m getting it ready for chicks and just found this (frass??)when I took the ceiling panel down. What would cause this? The old hens were part of a massive flea problem which is why they had to go in the first place. I never...

    Americana Silver chick

That’s quite interesting to consider! I agree, there is a lot of gold, almost red, either side of the silver and on the breast. It’s not regular enough to be stripes so maybe that’s the splash. I look forward to watching how this chick develops. Thanks!!

Mystery gray and yellow chick - Help ID?

Hi! How is your mystery chick feathering in? I have my own mystery chicks that I think are Americana/EE. Id love to see possible grown feathering, if you have photos.

    Americana Silver chick

Is this called lavender or blue or silver? Any way, I’m insatiably curious what this chick might look like when grown. Does anyone with a similar bird have photos of the grown pullet? I believe she is Americana, from Mt Healthy Hatchery.

    Mt. Healthy Hatchery EXTRA EXTRA!

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

That is VERY good to know! I ordered from Mt Healthy this year for several reasons but I’ll go back to Wilco next year, I think. I haven’t had problems with any birds from them besides production breeds, which I think is inherent with those birds. Thank you!

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

When I called Kelso last month they told me (I hope I remember accurately!) they use Hoover and McMurray and at least one more in Oregon. I think the Battle Ground Wilco is similar but not exact.

adequate "fly-down" area in front of roost

I’m in your same boat, trying to find adequate space for de-roosting activities and it’s been a while since you posted but thought I’d share… I had a Barred Rock and an Orpington who always jumped down from the roost, about 2.5 feet. Most others used the ramp despite it being awkward. Both hens...

Is my coop big enough?? Please reply! 🙏

It may have been said, but making a couple alterations to your coop could help. You might be able to raise the entire coop up and create another enclosed level below with adequate ventilation as needed. As for material, it’s almost barn cleaning weather. People will start posting materials...
