    have you checked her to make sure shes not egg bound..a sign of egg bound is getting up and down out of the nest and not laying ..if she is try soaking her bottom in warm water ..sometimes you can her relax them and move the egg down ... sorry i dont no why it wouldnt let me quote...

    have you checked to see if she is egg bound ..one of the signs to watch out for in egg bound hens is when they get up in the nest and back down alot ..shes prolly fine but just a heads up on it ..if she is ,try soaking her bottom in some warm water and try feeling for the egg..

    did you ever find out what this was ..i found the samething last night in one of my nesting boxes..i broke it open and i thought it looked like a organ of some sort ..all my birds are acting ok and look ok ..i no tghis is an old post but any info on what that thing is would be great ..thanks..

    hes not a wyandotte ..i have wyandottes and hes missing the rose comb ..and the colors are all wrong ..he looks like a wellie except that wing and leg color.....shame he lost the bloodline he was working with ..and with folks being less then honest makes it even worse ..

    naw ..they have had bare backs most of the winter ..i see him mounting the wyandottes and feathers coming out when he does ..i guess hes just to rough for them ..i'll be moving him to his own coop and run ..he will still be able to see the others , just not be able to get to them ..you think...

    i tried using aprons but i find them on the floor in the morning... i have the opposite actully to many hens for one roo..20 hens and just one roo ..i think i am going to have to build another runn just for him ..i hate to think of spliting them up ..i have a feeling it may cause him to start...

    just wondering if any one else is having trouble with their roo tearing out feathers of the hens hes mounting ..my poor wellie hens dont have any more feathers to lose on their backs ..and now i see hes tearing the wyandottes backs up as well ..any onme have any like this ..and what can i do...

    i no i read that most production breeds will in general slow or stop laying after 2 yrs but it also said haritage breeds tend to lay sporatic and will lay for more yrs ..but it is also dependent on the bird its self ..i read of a bird still laying after 6 yrs..not every day but a couple times a...
