    What is the longest you've had to wait for a hen to lay?

    I had two that I stopped counting at 35 weeks so I wouldn't get mad. They eventually laid me the most delicious blue eggs.

    I just throw everything I give them in the yard. It seem to me that that is how they would eat in nature.

    5 week old chick scalped

    I had a similar problem and I used terramycin because it was all they had at the local feed and seed. It worked fine and the chicken recovered fully. Good luck.

    Chick attacked by dog

    So sorry for your loss. I think its sad but the dog is just following its instincts. My dogs have done it to my chickens. Unfortunately they need to be trained to resist their instincts before they get the taste of chicken.

    Is your yard secure (from escape by the chickens) with a fence? Could they have wandered off? I hope that is the case.
