    Crowless Roosters

I have a rooster that has never crowed. He is an Asian hybrid. Mostly shamo. I have had him for almost a year. I bought him at an auction when he was a juvenile bird. I have mainly Asian chickens including Malays and Ayam Cemanis. I like black chickens, so I thought he was pretty cool. I keep...

Domestic Teal - the new little wonders of the world

Last spring I hatched one of my favorite ducks. She is a sold blue which is a black duck with one blue gene. I kept only the smallest drakes again, I am looking forward to the next breeding season. Some of these little ducks are silent. I would like to work with the silent ones because I know of...

    crowless rooster

I haven't tried separating him, but I have been paying closer attention to him. He still does not crow but made some sort if noise the other day. It was far from a crow, but it was a noise he made when startled. So I don't think he is entirely mute after all.

    crowless rooster

I know he has never crowed because I get rid of roosters when they begin to grow, or they get moved to a different location. This guy remains next to the house. The hens make more noise than he does. I wonder, if it is genetic, if the hens would be completely silent too?

    crowless rooster

I have a hybrid rooster of Asian decent that has never crowed. In fact, I believe he is completely mute. I have put some eggs in the incubator from his hens and they are fertile. I want to see if it is genetic. If it is, then it can be crossed on to any breed.

Domestic Teal - the new little wonders of the world

Here is one article about our domestic Muscovy. It is interesting how they have found genes from two other species of ducks in the domestic Muscovy clearly showing it's hybrid origins. http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=874666

Domestic Teal - the new little wonders of the world

I wanted to show a photo of a spotted drake during eclipse molt. This is the same spotted drake as in the original post. Oddly, I think he is much prettier during the summer covered in dots. He had a completely green head until a few days ago. I am still getting eggs, but the fertility has...

6 Domestic Teal eggs - the new little wonders of the world.

With every six eggs ordered, I send at least two extras. Some adults will be available in the fall from $25-$100 depending on size and color. There will be a variety of sizes and colors that hatch. Every year, I only keep the smallest drakes for breeding; therefor, the flock gets smaller and...
