HELP!! My power has been out for 6 hours and I'm two weeks into a batch of incubator eggs

My power was off for 6 1/2 hours and I'm happy to report that my chicks hatched, and two days early! These were Icelandics and pipped on day 19. It got down in the low 60s in my house. I would think you will be safe, Angie.

HELP!! My power has been out for 6 hours and I'm two weeks into a batch of incubator eggs

I should have brought them with me to work, but the power company said the power would be back on around 8AM. Then it went to 9:30, now they say 11AM! Grrr!

How long can eggs survive with no heat? Power company keeps pushing back the repair time. Getting worried!! House temp is getting in the low 60s.

Hi Angie, We started last spring with 9. Of those, we have 4 left. I didn't realize how frail chickens are, before I had them. They die frequently for unknown reasons. Since then we have added a bunch more. We bought a incubator and hatched our own 4 Blue-Laced, Red Wyandottes this spring...

I'm from Ravenna. I started last spring. Lots of ups and downs. How's your first flock coming along?

I just looked at the FAQ and now I'm really depressed. Looks I will have it now and forever. TwoCrows, it says that Mareks could stay around for years after I culled the flock, regardless of how well I cleaned. As long as it doesn't affect the eggs and meat, I will just have to live with it.

Hi all, Preparing to put down my 3rd pullet this year. This is a BLRW I hatched myself four months ago. Dang it. Can you vaccinate chickens anytime or only when they are chicks? Where do you get the vaccine to do it yourself? Happy to be here, second year chicken raiser. I have 18 (soon...
