The older hens do occasionally bully them, seemingly to put them in their place, but no real aggression.
The Reds are actually fairly mild mannered. Except to our Barred pullet, which was mostly raised inside due to early illness. She's been relentlessly bullied by them (although the other...
I built it from scraps from a different project and it actually turned out to be a hit with them. It is noticeably cooler, partly because there's a pit dug out.
Generally they have access to at least water in the secondary run. The aggression was occurring even away from food. She was actively...
Had some concern she might be a he, but I've been very good at being able to tell.
There are 7 chickens total (5 younger, 2 mature silkies). Coop is a about 4x6. There are 2 runs and small tractor, totaling about 128sqft of available run space.
So we have 5, 8 week old bantams. We had thought the pecking order was fairly well established at this point, with the two largest Rhode Island Red's taking the top spot. However this morning I came out to our smallest, a Barred English Game, viciously going for the Reds, aggressively pulling...

We thought about adding one the sisters in, but we felt bad putting one in jail for no reason. They are enjoying their grass and sun bathing too much.
Instead we are putting her on a secure spot outside (weather permitting) within view of the others for a couple hours each day.
So we've had are smallest bantem inside for the past 2 weeks as she has been recovering from a severe defiency. She's made a great recovery and we thought we'd try to move her back in with her sisters. And we feel that she's getting bored and lonely
She is growing fast now, but smaller and...
So her poop has returned to normal today. We are concerned that if we start her on Corid, and it's a difficency, we may worsen that problem.
Her symptoms seem to be closer to a difficency than coccid. but I don't want to assume that at the same time...
Let's assume it's a deficiency, how long...
We have a 3 week bantam barred. 6 days ago, she stopped moving around and having issues standing/walking. She's also the smallest of the bunch. They were on medicated feed (we switched, when we noticed this). We suspect a moderately severe deficiency.
We brought her inside. She is ravenously...
Her condition has continued to deteriorate rapidly. We are now noticing unusal panting despite being in a mild, well ventilated room.
She hasn't laid for weeks, and our vet put in a hormone blocker, due to some very inflamed overies.
Unfortunately, barring a miracle recovery, we are likely...
About a month ago our 2 year old hen started limping on one foot.
We took her to the vet 3 weeks ago. She had high bacteria count, and swollen GI tract. (Vet thought this was the reason for limping) The next 2 weeks we gave her antibiotics and some other drugs.
1 week ago, she still doesn't...
We've moved her to do her own small 'coop' within the enclosed run. We are still waiting to hear from the vet; unfortunately there are almost no vets in our area that are willing to look at poultry. She is about 2 years old
One of our hens suddenly began limping last week, we thought it was a sprain and restricted her movement. However it has not improved. Vet is out until Monday.
She (tries) to be active and is eating/drinking. She moved the leg, but can't put weight on it. She also tends to hold it out forward...
